Referral

Please note that when a case is referred to us we guarantee that your patient will be seen and examined personally by a Cardiology Specialist

It may sound obvious, but the correct diagnosis of heart or lung disease is every bit as important as its subsequent treatment. If the diagnosis is inaccurate, the ‘treatment’ won’t work.

In many cases, pets are referred because they have symptoms indicative of heart or lung disease. Others are referred with diagnosed heart or lung disease, but nevertheless require a more precise diagnosis to optimise the medication.

For this, nothing counts more than experience. However, we also benefit from state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment that helps us diagnose heart and lung problems accurately, and in the quickest possible time.

Many patients do not require admittance to the hospital with all procedures performed in the presence of the owner (echocardiography and ECG) or while the owner waits (radiography and blood sampling).

Some animals are admitted just for the day if seen at a specialist centre for investigations where general anaesthesia is required i.e. bronchoscopy and CT. Patients requiring surgery or those with heart failure or serious arrhythmias requiring close monitoring may need to be admitted for several days.
